Welcome to the Treasurer's web page. From getting ready for the new school year in August to closing out the fiscal year in June and July, the treasurer's office remains a busy place. The summer, believe it or not, is actually one of the busiest times for us. My assistant, Anita Rickle, does a great job keeping things rolling along year in and year out.
Payroll, and everything that goes along with it, is almost a full time job in itself. Payroll, taxes and retirement must be calculated and processed every two weeks, including during the summer. We do our best to make sure everyone gets paid accurately and on time. Let me say that is no easy task.
In between payrolls, we have lots of requisitions to be processed and converted into purchase orders. Then, of course, there are lots of bills to be paid all year long. And as hard as everyone tries to plan ahead, we still have last minute emergencies. We try to help out on these when we can by rushing things through the process.
Then there are the state auditors who visit us at least once and usually twice a year for several weeks at a time. We try very hard to follow all of the rules and regulations, which are handed down by the Auditor of State and Attorney General, in all facets of the treasurer's duties. Sometimes it may seem like we are being difficult, but in reality it is the law which forces us to follow certain rules and procedures. The best way to avoid problems is to ask first.
