The 2017 Blue Devil golf season was a very memorable, fantastic one.  The leaders of our team were Seniors, Marcus Miller and Trey Bame.  These 2 young men are not only 2 of the most talented in Blue Devil golf history, but 2 of the best leaders to ever play at CHS as well. They had some good teammates as well.  Junior, Dylan Grothaus, Sophomores, Ethan Tanner, McKain Miller and Kole Phillips were contributors as well and are key to the Blue Devil future.  Some other improving golfers were Brayden Miller, Peyton Young, Logan Moyers, Hayden Twining and Dustin Souaysanga.
The team finished as co-champs of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference.  This marks only the 2nd time in our school's history (1985) for a league championship.  This team also qualified for districts for a 3rd consecutive year.  Before last season, no team had ever made back to back appearances in the district golf tourament.  In terms of duals, this team finished with an unblemished 14-0 record.  Not too bad!
Seniors Marcus Miller and Trey Bame:  N10 1st team
Sophomore Ethan Tanner:  Honorable Mention  N10
Coach Martin Baker: Co-Coach of the year N10
    2016 Golf Team
The 2016 Carey Blue Devil golf team was one for the ages!  The team was led by 2 seniors, Alex Kimmet and Chase Wagner.  To say those 2 young men were talented golfers and fine gentlemen would be an understatement.  The seniors set a great example for the rest of the Varsity team,  juniors Trey Bame, Marcus Miller and Easton Roark.  The 6 man spot was shared between two hardworking players, freshman Ethan Tanner and sophomore Jordan Dasher.  The junior varsity also did well, led by freshmen Peyton Young, Brayden Miller, McKain Miller and Kole Phillips, sophomore Dylan Grothaus and junior Zack Turnbell.  The team also had a fine 8th grade manager: Hayden Twining.
The Blue Devil varsity squad finished 14-1, good for 2nd place in the final league standings. This was the 3rd Blue Devil team to finish league runner-up.  They also finished 2nd in the N10 league tournament. They finished 2nd at Sectionals for the first time in school history, also becoming the first Blue Devil team to earn back-to-back trips to the District tournament.  The team has the distinction of breaking both the 9-hole and 18-hole team school record scores.  The 9-hole record was set with a 151 at Bob's Countryside.  The 18-hole record was set by firing a 324 at the Lakota Inv. at Nature Trails Golf Course, while also claiming the championship that day!  There's a lot about these players that make me proud.  Along with their stellar play this season, they were also top-notch gentlemen on and off the golf course.  The entire top 5 varsity golfers have maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA along the way.  They are to be commended for their accomplishments.  Coach Baker is so proud of these fine young men and excited for the future. GO BLUE!
                                                          2015 Golf Team
    Blue Devil Golf 15
The 2015 Carey Blue Devil golf season was extremely successful!  It consisted of 2 seniors, who contributed to the success of our team and will be missed.  Those 2 seniors are Alex McLaughlin and Anthony Driggers.  The others who helped out the Blue Devils substantially were sophomore, (N10 first team) Marcus Miller, sophomore Trey Bame (N10 second team) and sophomore, Easton Roark. We also had 2 juniors: Alex Kimmet (N10 second team) as well as Chase Wagner. (N10 Honorable Mention)  The team went 11-4 overall and placed 3rd in the Northern 10 conference.  Another milestone accomplishment for these fine young men was earning 3rd place at the Sectional tournament at Sycamore Springs golf course.  With that 3rd place finish, the young, yet experienced squad earned a place in the 18 team District field at Stone Ridge golf course in Bowling Green, Ohio.  They proceeded to place 12th of 18 at the District.  Despite finishing the season in strong-fashion and having a great season, these golfers remain humble and hungry to achieve even more next season.  We firmly believe the Blue Devil golf future is bright.  How bright?  BLUE DEVIL BRIGHT!!
We had other important parts to our team as well.  These golfers primarily played JV and went 2-0 on the season.  They are very talented too.  (Jr.) Luke Vaughn, Wes Lear, and Dylan Quail       (So.) Zachary Turnbell   (Fr.) Jordan Dasher, Dylan Grothaus and Logan Moyers.
     2014 Golf Team
The 2014 Blue Devil golf season was an extremely youthful, but successful season.  The team had only one senior, Grant Wentling, who will not only be missed from a team scoring standpoint, but also from a leadership role in which he excelled.  The team finished 11-5 in matches (5-4 N10) and finished 5th in the league standings.  The team also finished 5th of 13 teams in the Sectional tournament held at Syc. Springs, Arlington, Ohio.  Another accomplishment for the young Blue Devils is an undefeated 6-0 match record at home. (Bob's Countryside, Carey, Ohio.)  Coach Baker is very excited about the potential of this team.  He preaches to them to be hungry yet humble.  With the work ethic of these golfers, the sky is the limit for them in the coming years!  FORE!!!!!!!

    Golf Team
*10th place finish in MAL out of 12 teams

The Blue Devil golf team finished with a record of 5-6.  The CHS team was very youthful this season, lacking in experience.  However, the kids attitudes were great and they improved throughout the short 2 month season.  Our letter-winners were Soph. Anthony Driggers, Sr. Devon Huffman, & Fr. Alex Kimmett and Luke Vaughn.  The afore mentioned players were all 1st year award winners.  We also had 2 golfers who earned a 3rd year award:  Jr. Grant Wentling & Sr. Russell Phillips.  Phillips and Wentling were the 2 leaders on the team and helped Coach Baker out tremendously with the young team.  The plan is for significant improvement throughout the "course" of the offseason!!  Coach Baker loves his group and cannot wait for next season.   Go Blue Devils!!
