  • Parents Dropping Off and Picking Up

    Dear Carey Schools Parents;

    Please be aware of the following rules and guidelines for picking up and dropping off students:

    1. There is a 15 minute parking limit for the traffic loop around the building. This is a fire lane and we have posted signs accordingly. Our resource officer, Brian Lomeli is helping us by giving out verbal warnings, but will soon be issuing tickets to those who are not following the 15 minute limit;

    2. If you are not parked next to the curb to pick up your child, you need to exit your car and come to your child to pick them up. It is dangerous for young children to be walking across the traffic loop to get to your vehicle. It is OK if they are with an older sibling (6th grade or older), but younger children should not cross the loop to get to your car. The rule is the same for both the north and south parking lots;

    3. The speed limit during school hours around the traffic loop is 5 mph. There are many children and adults crossing at various locations, and you need to be able to stop at a moments notice. New speed limit signs will be posted as a reminder for you;

    4. During the school day, please do not approach the playground to talk with children. We are trying to provide a  safe environment for children, and many times we may not recognize who the adult is speaking with children. If you need to speak with your child, please ask a staff member on duty first.

    While we all may not agree with some of the rules put in place, we can all agree that they are for the safety of children. That is always our first priority. If you have any questions please contact Michael Wank, Superintendent, at (419) 396-7922. Thank you for your help with the safety of our students.
